1 Year - 100 Posts

I started my blog one year ago today. Just on a whim one night I decided to do it. I wasn't going to tell anyone about it for a while. I wanted to get the hang of doing it first. Right away I saw a comment on my first post. I was like "What in the world!" I soon discovered that there was a link to my blog from my profile. So much for keeping it secretive. I didn't mind though. I went ahead and told my friends.
So now - This is one year later and my 100th post. I started thinking about ways for people to leave comments on this post. I have seen some really cute things done, but I wanted to do something different. I came up with a really easy one for everyone. Leave a Bible verse. Anyone you like. Your favorite, one you have been thinking of lately, one that you open your Bible and put your finger on.... :) But if you comment more than once (which of course you are welcome to do, or else I won't have 100 comments) you have to leave an other verse with everything you say. It shouldn't be complicated. That is what copy and paste is for. :)

Rhonda,

I read these verses the other night and of course I thought of Grandpa so I'm leaving these verses from Philippians 1 in memory of Grandpa Cosby

20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 ¶ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

Great! Your blog has been such a blessing, encouragement, fun, and just wonderful! I enjoy reading your blog (even though I don't comment alot!)

Here are my life verses:

Mattew 6:21 "For where your treasure is; there will your heart be also."

Proverbs 31:30 "Favor is decitful and beauty is vain, but a women that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised"

This looks a little sad, you need 100 comments, NOT just 5!

So here I go again,

Hi Rhonda, My favorite Bible verse is ever changing! What verse I lean on one day usually changes within a short time. I think God lets that happen for a reason. It's been one very effective way for writing His Word on the tablet of my heart! Lately, I find much encouragement in Prov. 3:5-6 "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." God bless you! I hope you are all enjoying this Christmas season!

Me again! I had to tell you that I chose not to read anyone else's verses until I posted mine so that I wasn't influenced. So tell Becki Sue I wasn't being a copycat!!! :)

[4] Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
[5] For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Ok here is the last verse for now.

Psalms 150:1-6
1] Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
[2] Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
[3] Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
[4] Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
[5] Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
[6] Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.

Hey Rhonda!! Congratulations on your first year of Blogging, and 100th Post!! :) I couldn't think of any particular verse, so i will put down the verses that i have to say for Tomorrow (sunday). We are learning the entire chapter of Psalm 119... but don't worry.. i won't put the whole thing on... :) (the last one is the one i am learning for this week)

129 Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.
131 I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments.
132 Look thou upon me, and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy name.
133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.

I can't believe it's already been 100 posts. Your blog is a huge encouragement, thx.

Wow verses, "been thinking of lately" I have no clue which ones to put, but here are some that have been on my mind or came to mind when I read this post.

Bethany's second comment...
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit." (Jn. 12:24)

When I read your blog and talk to you...

Someone at The Well/Jacobs Well asked last night the reference to the verse about "Abstain(ing) from all appearance of evil."

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

That verse has been one of the most encouraging for me this last year.

Anna Joy said...

"And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me." (2 Cor. 12:9)

That was my favorite verse last year when I was dealing with a lot of sickness. And yes, I am going to add my own comments to all of these verses. :)

Anna Joy said...

Isaiah 60:19 and 20

I'm not going to explain why I love that verse because I don't feel like crying right now. :)

Okay Rhonda does that make up for lost time? Am I forgiven? :) And I shall be back if I can remember.

Well with this comment you will be half way there! I don't know if anyone has done these verses yet. So if they have oh well. :)

Proverbs 31:10-31
10: Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
11: The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.
12: She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
13: She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
14: She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
15: She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
16: She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
17: She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
18: She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
19: She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
20: She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
21: She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
22: She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing is silk and purple.
23: Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
24: She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
25: Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
26: She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
27: She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.
28: Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.
29: Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
30: Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
31: Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.

Okay Rhonda here are two verses I want at my wedding. Yep I have weddings on the mind lately. :D

Ruth 1:16b and 17

for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: 17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

A friend of mine said that as part of her vows and I thought it was really neat.

Rhonda said...

Anna, you do and my dad will laugh at you. :)
I wonder why we all have weddings on the brain lately? ;)

So keeping with the book of Ruth... chapter 4

21And Salmon begat Boaz, and Boaz begat Obed,

22And Obed begat Jesse, and Jesse begat David.

I remember reading that a long time ago and it suddenly dawned on me that Boaz and Ruth were in the line of Christ. I LOVE that story. It has got to be the best love story ever.

BSBT said...

OK, It's been far too long!

Here goes!

Romans 5:1-
Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God trough our Lord Jesus Christ:

BSBT said...

2. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

BSBT said...

3.And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and experience, hope:

BSBT said...

Cut the "and experience, hope:" out of the last one. I messed up :P

4. And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

BSBT said...

5.And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

BSBT said...

7.For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die.

BSBT said...

8.But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

BSBT said...

9.Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

BSBT said...

10.For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

BSBT said...

11.And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

BSBT said...

12.Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

BSBT said...

13.(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

BSBT said...

14.Nevertheless death rained from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.

BSBT said...

15.But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

BSBT said...

16.And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is
of many offences unto justification.

BSBT said...

17.For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

BSBT said...

18.Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

BSBT said...

19.For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

BSBT said...

20.Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound, grace did much more abound:

BSBT said...

21.That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

Is it not weird that we have had read to us and have read ourselves over and over what the Lord has to say to us through His word, but it takes us at the right time to be ready to look and see what He has for us.
If we are not looking, how will we ever find?

There, I got some more up for ya Rhonda. =D

BSBT said...

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!
I Missed # 6! :P
o well, here's another comment to make it only 24 more! :D

So... here's 6.For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

If I messed up anywhere else just go look the chapter up in your Bible, I'm goin' to bed. (HA!)

And a verse my dad kept quoting during the movie tonight. :D

Anna Joy said...

I have come to the conclusion that someone will laugh at me no matter what I do. Therefore I shall do exactly as I please and hopefully someone will get a good laugh out of my silliness, because after all...

a merry heart doeth good like medicine.

Yeah and don't ask me the reference! :D

Rhonda said...

Anna, Proverbs 15:13 A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

(Just in case you are wondering why I said he would laugh...) He thinks it is funny that people quote what a daughter in law said to her mother in law as part of the wedding vows. Of course, you could always say them to your mother in law... turn from your groom to his mother. Now that would really get some laughs!

Anna Joy said...

That WOULD be funny! :D

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosever believeth on him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

I'm sure it's been said before. But I am TIRED. It was that or "Jesus wept".

DrBen said...

Uh, no... I meant that my favorite verses were Genesis 1:1 THROUGH Revelation 22:21! Now, did you want me to post all of those, or just leave it at the references? That's the reference I use when I sign someone's Bible. Its kinda been a habit of mine for many years. (Hope you get to a hundred someday on this post.) -BT

Rhonda said...

Pastor Townsend, I know exactly what you meant by Gen. 1:1 - Rev 22:21. I have seen your signature before, remember? BUT you still didn't leave a verse! Those are still just references! When you preach you don't preach on every verse between those two do you? You have a specific passage. Of course there are always lots more Scriptures used than that certain passage - but still... You have THOUSANDS to pick from.
By the way - I didn't say you had to use a favorite verse. I said you could leave any verse.

Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

DrBen said...

Okay, okay! Have it YOUR way. I only have memorized one verse, so here it is - "Jesus wept", uh... I think it's in the Neu Testiment somewhere, close to the Gospell of Acts or something. Sorry, but I can't think of the "reference." Besides, you have something against references anyway. -BT

Rhonda said...

Thanks, Pastor Townsend. I like getting my way. :)
I have nothing against references! I just want a verse to go with it!

Esther 8:9 (which happens to be the longest verse in the Bible)
Then were the king's scribes called at that time in the third month, that is, the month Sivan, on the three and twentieth day thereof; and it was written according to all that Mordecai commanded unto the Jews, and to the lieutenants, and the deputies and rulers of the provinces which are from India unto Ethiopia, an hundred twenty and seven provinces, unto every province according to the writing thereof, and unto every people after their language, and to the Jews according to their writing, and according to their language.

DrBen said...

Okay, you WIN! This is one of my all-time favorite verses in the Bible. It comes from the "Song of Deborah" and goes like this:

"At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead." Judges 5:27

Wish I had written a song like that (sigh). -BT

DrBen said...

Also, this one is my favorite that brings tears to my eyes each time I reflect and meditate on it. I trust it will be a blessing to all.

"At Parbar westward, four at the causeway, and two at Parbar." 1 Chronicles 26:18

I can only assume through proper study that this is the Old Testament golf course "Par-bar." Barack did par the Causeway hole (4)and got a birdie (2) on the Par three hole. This is not the true interpretation, but it is an application for us. -BT

Rhonda said...

Way too funny! I wanted to post that last verse but I couldn't remember where it was. My dad said when he was in college he and his friends always used to sign that as their "life verse."
